Description
"During the creation of this piece I found myself at times standing before my easel mirroring the painting's depicted pose. I stand back to view my progress and then as if by the power of a welcome suggestion, I drop my arms and turn my palms gently upward. As my head tips back I lift my gaze heavenward softly closing my eyes as I imagine the sun shining on my face. I feel this familiar warmth and instinctively take a long, deep breath slowly exhaling as I bask in a quiet, peaceful moment. All thought evaporates as I stand in the stillness. For a few moments the outer world fades away as I step into what feels like a kingdom of Heaven "within", the kingdom of Heaven which Jesus speaks of."
Greg Olsen
Born in 1958, Greg Olsen was raised in a farming community in rural Idaho. His parents, artists themselves, recognized and encouraged his early love of drawing. Later, the devoted tutelage of a high school teacher cemented his affinity and enhanced his technical ability. After studying illustration at Utah State University, he was hired as an in-house illustrator in Salt Lake City, working on anything from murals and dioramas to simple paste-up. Two years later, he followed a friend's advice and began painting full time.
