John Fossum spent his formative teenage years in Georgia, where he learned from firsthand experience the importance of building one’s life upon the Rock of Jesus Christ. After finishing high school, he moved to Utah to reset his life and discover God. John subsequently decided to serve as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was assigned to labor in the Philippines, where he met some of the kindest people on Earth. After returning home, he attended college to study English and earned a BA and an MA focusing on eighteenth-century British literature. He met his wife, Sarah, in the first English class he signed up for—poetry. John and Sarah are the parents of five children and the grandparents to one grandchild at the time of this book’s publication. John and Sarah love to travel, and their favorite weekly activity is dinner and a movie. John has spent his professional career teaching full time for the Church Educational System in seminaries and institutes, where he has taught various religion classes for teenagers, young adults, and adults. He insists that his life is a direct byproduct of God’s divine timing and unmerited intervention. As such, John is an optimist, a living witness of God’s goodness and grace. John’s life stands as evidence that God is in the details of His children’s lives, and all will work out in the end.
